Le Vallespir

Welcome to 'Vallespir Promotions'. On this site you will find all the information you may need about the Vallespir valley, a beautiful region of the French Pyrenees right next to the Spanish border. It is the southernmost valley of France located in the Eastern Pyrenees forming part of Catalonia and is dominated by the sacred mountain of the Roussillon, Mount Canigou.

Vallespir (or) Tech valley begins at Ceret and follows the river Tech through Amelie-les-Bains, Arles-sur-Tech and Prats-de-Mollo where its rustic charm and diversified beauty can be enjoyed. Vallespir includes the communes located in the extreme south of France displaying all the charms of castles and monuments from the mysterious age of the Cathars, such as Queribus and Peyrepertuse.

Catalonia has a rich history and the geographical situation between France and Spain is as diverse as it is interesting. Visit the splendid port of Collioure, the citadel of Mount-Louis and the walled village of Villefranche de Conflent to mention but a few.

Come and taste the regional cuisine such as"Cargolade" washed down with local wine and many other dishes that the Catalan kitchen has to offer you. Local industry and a folk tradition is still very much alive and makes for an extraordinary environment.
During many of the lively and colourful festivals one can begin to understand the Catalan enthusiasm for their culture through passionate songs and traditional Catalan dances such as 'the Sardane'.

The medieval city Arles-sur-Tech, the thermal spa at Amelie-les-Bains, natural sites such as the Gorges de la Fou, majestic Canigou (2785m), architecture such as Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque, a museum of modern art in Ceret, all these and much more await you in the Vallespir.
